About Castiel (some canon-divergence)Castiel is a fallen angel of the Lord. Unless the hunter admits similar feelings, Cas may never speak of them.Angels | Of all his brothers and sisters, Castiel shares the strongest bond with Gabriel. The Archangel raised and mentored him just as Lucifer had raised and mentored Gabe. When the Winchesters had trapped him in a ring of holy fire, Cas was too angry and disappointed to speak. The Gabriel he knew wouldn’t galvanize an apocalypse. And if that was truly what the Archangel wanted, then that warehouse would be where they parted ways. In a twisted way, it felt like just deserts for when Gabriel fled Heaven, and Cas, when the era of reprogramming began.When he learned what had happened to Gabriel at the Elysian Fields Hotel, Cas was there in a heartbeat. If Gabriel was dead, the last thing he’d ever done for his brother was turn his back and leave him in a ring of holy fire. The Archangel’s carefully crafted doppelganger was so real, he never doubted that broken corpse was his brother. Castiel destroyed that hotel down to its foundation, buried the doppelganger himself, and never said a word about it to the Winchesters.He’s since learned of Gabriel’s survival, and is protective of his big brother.My main Gabriel is illusivexemissary. However, I’m happy to write with others. If you're a Gabriel and want this particular verse, please plot it with me first, otherwise I'll handle their interactions according to the show's canon.Castiel was also very close to Balthazar before he faked his death. Balthazar was as much his big brother to him as Gabriel was. Of all the siblings he’s killed, Balthazar haunts him the most. He’s never forgiven himself for staking his brother in the back, and likely never will.SELFLimits | Cas can go without sleep at full power, but the more spent he is, the more he does need actual sleep. For mine, it’s a sign of overexertion, not necessarily a sign of missing Grace or dying. The more tired he is, the stronger he feels the complex emotions of humanity. He can recover from just about anything, if he lets himself. But he sometimes needs convinced to stop for his own sake. As for his power, he is a Seraph of the Lord, and far stronger than the CW had the budget to show. My Castiel has more up his sleeve than an angel blade, expect a higher tier of Heavenly wrath.Mission | Castiel is the Shield of Heaven. He was carved from stardust to protect the Heavenly Host and the innocent. To fight against the forces of darkness. He will put himself in danger first, and is shocked when others try to protect him. When faced with a situation he can’t help or fix, it takes a toll on him. When Cas needs help the most is when he’s most resistant to the very idea.APPEARANCEVessel | Jimmy Novak was a dark-haired, blue-eyed man of medium build, and he stood at 6 feet tall. When he said yes to Castiel, he was wearing a black suit, dress shoes, a blue tie and a beige trench coat. An outfit Cas still wears today. Despite his human appearance, Cas portrays some vaguely unsettling avian qualities. He’ll also stare uncomfortably long at people, and is capable of holding a position for hours without movement. He seems human, until one truly looks.Grace | Castiel’s Grace is a serious shade of blue. It’s the color of calm water, but given enough wind and rain, the calmest of seas can unleash unimaginable destruction. The color of his Grace serves as a warning. Push him, and you fill feel his wrath.Wings | While his brothers and sisters boast beautiful, multicolored wings, Castiel’s are black as pitch. A crow’s wings. In a bright enough light, they shine like any other’s, but in the absence of it, they almost seem like a void in the world. A flat black where dimension and color should be. His wingspan is impressive, but he will only manifest his wings around people he truly trusts. If they are shown to you, consider it a sign of faith. This Castiel’s wings are functional during events after the fall, because he was missing his Grace at the time, and they were later restored by Gabriel. He blames Dean for growing somewhat fond of driving, despite being able to fly.
